Baggage problems

Baggage rules vary by route and carrier. Most airlines follow Montreal Convention limits for international flights, and some jurisdictions add local protections. Document everything before leaving the airport.

At the airport

  • Photograph the damaged bag and its contents before leaving the airport.

  • Keep receipts for essential purchases while waiting for delayed baggage.
  • Do not throw away damaged items until the airline has had a chance to inspect them.
